Room 30 is the final release by Sivle Si Dog (until the 2015 reunion Concussion EP). Starting out in the mountains of North Carolina in the early 1990s, the band then moved to Boston, before calling it quits in 1997. Originally from the region around Boone, NC, there was no other band like Sivle Si Dog. The scene was dominated by hippy jam bands and Sivle Si Dog stood out like a sore, puss-filled thumb. Unloved at home, the band toured across the state and the greater southeast, sharing the stage with other NC punks like AntiSeen and Squatweiler. The band eventually moved to Boston around 1995, slowly building up a strong following in places like The Rat, TT’s, and Jaques. Over their lifespan, they released a couple of EPs and two full-lengths (s/t and Ham Biscuit). In Boston, the original line-up was joined by Nathan, who travelled up from Boone to become their second guitarist. The addition of Nathan brought out a fuller, heavier sound. But due to unfortunate circumstances – someone got his girlfriend pregnant and had to follow her back to NC – the band decided to call it quits. But not before recording one final album: Room 30. Named for their practice space in Allston, where all the tracks were recorded, the album captures the band at the height of their sound.
